Living Landmark
A significant English Oak, Latin name Quercus Robus, marks the entrance to Middleton Field. Its preservation informed the early design decisions for the entranceway to the new neighbourhood serving as an important link to the surrounding streetscapes in Daylesford.

If first appearances are important to you, Middleton Field will capture your heart. To enter the neighbourhood, all visitors will pass under a stately green Oak tree marking the entrance from Smith Street.
Early design decisions and planning for Middleton Field responded to the need to preserve the significant Oak. To support its longevity, the entrance roads were placed around the tree ensuring ongoing water access to the root system.
All entrance works conducted within the tree’s vicinity, as part of the civil works for Stage 1, were under the supervision of the project arborist.
The English Oak forms an important link between the new neighbourhood and the surrounding streetscapes in broader Daylesford, which are characterised by exotic deciduous species.
Many of the native trees on the land in Middleton Field will be retained and enhanced with leafy deciduous trees found throughout Daylesford and trees of local origin. These trees will serve to create a natural continuation of greenery and the turning of the leaves found in the surrounding landscape.
